Geology of the Nenana Canyon
June 12-13, 2010 $295 (10% membership discount)
The glacial-fed Nenana River slices a path across the Denali fault and carves one of the most beautiful canyons in the state. With Denali National Park Geologist Phil Brease and the Denali Outdoor Center, we will explore this fault line and river, and learn how they determine the shape of this landscape. The first day we will explore the road corridor by van, hiking and investigating outcroppings and land features. Day two, we’ll take to the river as a modern-day John Wesley Powell, floating down 20 miles of river through glacial valleys into the spectacular Nenana Canyon.
