Wildlife Tracking and Signs Field Seminar | Murie Science & Learning Center

Wildlife Tracking and Signs

July 2-4, 2010
$330 (10% membership discount)

Walk in the footsteps of Denali’s famed wildlife biologist Adolph Murie as you learn tracking and observation skills. With expert tracker Tim Buechle and the Murie Science and Learning Center, we’ll explore Denali’s landscape much the way Murie did by studying tracks and other signs. Not only will we discover what animals were there before us, but also what they were doing! The landscape will come alive as we learn the basics of tracking such as identifying, timing, and interpreting tracks and other signs. We’ll investigate the relationships between different wildlife species and how they are all connected within the ecosystem. We’ll also take a look at how modern research techniques differ from those of Murie. Known locally as “Trapper Tim”, Tim Buechle is a licensed trapping, hunting, and fishing guide from Talkeetna, Alaska with over 35 years of experience tracking animals in the wild.
