2012 Teacher Scholarships
The Murie Science and Learning Center and Alaska Geographic recognize that teachers have the ability to empower and inspire our youth. Teachers that attend our seminars and trainings help us share park science and an appreciation for public lands. These Alaska Geographic funded scholarships provide financial support to teachers wishing to attend our courses in Denali.
The Application Deadline is December 18, 2011
These field-based courses are small group intensives that expose teachers to science, research, and educational opportunities. We use the wilderness of Denali as our classroom. These are not your ordinary teacher courses! Information about these courses can be found at our Field Seminar and Teacher Training pages or by clicking on any of the specific courses below. Most courses overnight at a remote field camp.
Most scholarship awards cover 75% of the tuition. Yet to assist teachers from remote Alaskan schools, we will also award several scholarships that cover 100% of the tuition and provide a $400 travel stipend. An optional section on the application form applies to this additional award. The scholarship program is available to full-time K-12 teachers within the United States.
The 2012 Teacher Scholarships will be awarded in December. Applications are evaluated on the applicant's anticipated use of the subject matter in a creative and practical manner. The application deadline is Sunday, December 18, 2011.
To Apply Please download the application form and follow the instructions on the form. Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant's anticipated use of the subject matter in a creative and practical manner.
